BARC set to be the currency for TV ratings in country, joins hands with TAM India
In a move that could be defined as a milestone for the entire broadcast industry in India, the country finally gets a single currency for measuring television ratings. Television rating company BARC India formed by the broadcasters, advertisers and ad agencies is launching a new subsidiary with TAM India which is owned by Nielsen and Kantar. The new Meter Company will only manage the meters, do the field work and feed the data to BARC, who will then analyse and release the ratings to the industry. This also marks an end to the TAM television ratings and the BARC ratings will be the sole television ratings currency in the country.
